Some 200 immigrants in the Carolinas and Georgia, more than 150 in Los Angeles and around 40 in New York, have been rounded up according to ICE in recent days. One woman who was picked up was a mother of two who had pleaded guilty almost 10 years ago to using a false ID to get a job as a janitor. She was not deported. Last week, when she showed up for a routine check-in with ICE, she was deported. Do you favor aggressively deporting immigrants who have been living peacefully here for years?

Images of America: Fitzgerald

"Images of America: Fitzgerald" by Cam Jordan and Sherri Butler tells the city's unique history in images drawn from the finest pictures in the Blue and Gray Museum's collection, as well as those of private citizens and The Herald-Leader. Those images are supplemented with information gleaned from The Herald-Leader archives, earlier histories of the city written by Beth Davis and Isidor and Maud Gelders and the authors' own research.

The quality of the images is superior to any that have been published before. Some are in book form for the first time, including an original stock certificate for the Colony Company and early views of Bowen's Mill.

All proceeds from the sale of the book, including authors' royalties, will go to benefit the Blue and Gray Museum. In Fitzgerald, the book is available for purchase at the museum, located at 116 S. Johnston St., as well as at the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Chamber of Commerce, the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Library, City Hall, The Herald-Leader,  PlantersFirst, Community Bank and Colony Bank. It may also be ordered online through the museum's eBay account at the following link:
